I’m having trouble understanding the meaning of Q5 in Lab 4, particularly the phrase, "but not both in the po_items table." Based on the data given, no job_id has both item_ids in po_items, and no po_id has both item_ids in po_items. Am I working with incorrect data for Lab 4? Even with the expected answer, I’m struggling to identify any logical approach that fits the question. Could someone explain the question in more detail? Thank you for your assistance.

Hi,

This question means "finding item_ids that are either INK-RESIN or INK-WRSOL but not both in the po_items table. I don't think you need to use 'job_id'.

I am having trouble to understand the questions too. In particular, the second part.

In the given data (po_items), IRN appears on the two rows as below:

004/CCC/IRN/4 006/GGG/IRN/2

and IWS appears on one row as below:

002/AAA/IWS/2

In which situation, both item_ids (IRN and IWS) appear in the po_items table? Can anyone please give an example?

Thanks.

Hi,

You are correct, the question appears to be flawed, and includes a situation that could not happen, but adjusting at this stage may cause everyone who attempted and got it right to have to re-do it at this late stage. the answer is still achievable though, but just doesn't work as intended.

A better question would have been:

Find the item_ids that are either 'INK-RESIN' (IRN) or 'INK-WRSOL' (IWS) from the po_orders table, but exclude any items that are also present in the po_deliveries table. Use UNION and EXCEPT operations to filter the results.

Thanks, Adam.
