Thanks for bringing this up, I am also confused why there is an extra microsecond after some of the processor computation or context change occurs. There is no extra microsecond when the process begins using the CPU immediately after the context change, but the total time seems to increment an extra time for all other cases. I believe this is a logic error on their part, where the main loop implemented in the sample solution increments the total time when it is not supposed to.
