I encountered the same issue where almost every function (called by execute_commands()) had the parameters. That in itself wasn't a big issue, but the problem was that multiple variables needed updating for each function call. I believe it is perfectly acceptable to make these variables global for the purpose of this program. As we a simulating the processes on a CPU, it is essentially a closed off program that won't be needing any expansion into other files.
