In the Lecture 8 slides, it says that there is only ever a single process in the running state. Am I correct in saying that this is only the case when the computer has only one CPU with one core? Because if the CPU has multiple cores, then each core can run a different process at the same time? Thanks.

That is correct; on my 6-core iMac, I can ask it to show me the 6 processes running on different the cores.
