Yes; I've added 'one-or-more whitespace characters....' to the project description.

Once a line is determined to be a comment-line, the whole line is just ignored, so it has no expected layout. Similarly, the columns/words/fields in command-lines don't have to line up - it just makes it easier for (a human) to read. Hope that helps,
