11:42am Tue 10th May, Michael W.

Hi, My apologies once again for the lectures that failed to be recorded. From the next one I shall also record the MS-Teams broadcast, just to have a backup. At least for the Team meeting recording, if I've forgotten to turn on the mic someone will inform me right away. However, as for the missed recording, I don't have the spare capacity to record a replacement, I'm sorry, so I found a free book that you can use, The AWK Manual v1.0. Of relevance to the missed material are Sections 9.1 and 10.1-10.7. You can find a copy of the manual on the resources page for the unit. I also found a YouTube video that is based on the manual. Cheers MichaelW

Does that imply that we will not be examined on "awk" a lot since it wasn't really covered in the lectures?

Or to better word it - on the content that was covered in the unrecorded lectures*.

I don't think so. I'd expect awk to come up. It's unfortunate that the audio wasn't recorded, but if you read through the lecture slides, they explain it quite clearly. Michael didn't cover anything that wasn't on the slides.

Oh okay, I hope Michael thinks otherwise. From my experience in UWA - if lecture wasn’t accessible for everyone - it wasn’t examined. Otherwise people like me (that didn’t watch 2hours of lectures) are significantly disadvantaged over people that watched extra 2 hours of lectures. If this content is examinable surely everyone deserves a fair lecture on the topic. It’s not about the difficulty of the topic - it’s about fairness

Understood. This may be something you want to bring up to Michael in an email.
