Hi everyone, I get 321 words for sample2, and 688 words for Children of the Bush sample, while in Michael's examples, the words are 320 and 684 respectively. I checked my result by copying these samples into a text editing software with word counting feature (LibreOffice Writer). Now I'm wondering if anyone is getting same results like me? In terms of the incorrect word count result Michael got for sample1 (93 instead of 95, lack of two words that start with apostrophe mark), I'm guessing that Michael's program doesn't recognise the words start with some certain punctuation marks. The difference between my (and probably yours as well) and Michael's result makes me worry that our correct answers might be compared with incorrect answers in the end -- that doesn't sound fun :( Cheers

3:21pm Wed 11th May, Michael W.

Hi, Many thanks for taking the trouble to do the example by hand. Long story short. The problem with my code was that the tokenizer looked for the patter "^for", not "^for$", so forty-five was mis-classified. Fixed. I've uploaded the recomputed data files, though you may need to reload the file in your browser to see it. Cheers MichaelW PS
