It's UWAweek 42 (2nd semester, week 12)

This forum is provided to promote discussion amongst students enrolled in CITS5501 Software Testing and Quality Assurance. If posting a question, it's suggested you check first whether your question is answered in the unit Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list, and use the search box (on the right) to see if an answer to your question has already been posted.

Please consider offering answers and suggestions to help other students! And if you fix a problem by following a suggestion here, it would be great if other interested students could see a short "Great, fixed it!"  followup message.

Note that any posts must comply with the UWA Code of Conduct and the UWA Academic Conduct Policy. That means you should (a) treat everyone with respect and courtesy, and (b) not post your solutions to an assessment that's in progress.

If asking a programming question, it's recommended you read How do I ask a good question? If reporting or troubleshooting a bug in software used in the unit, it's recommend you read How to report bugs effectively.

Hi all,

You should now be able to access marks and feedback for the quiz on Moodle (and marks should also be visible in csmarks). If you can't access the marks, feel free to post here and let me know.

The quiz should have been very straightforward, and the average mark reflects this: around 82% (85/104 marks) for students who completed the quiz.

But the quiz is also meant to provide useful feedback. If you got questions wrong, please don't ignore that fact and just hope for the best! Make sure you review the correct answers and understand why they differ from your answers - I recommend discussing them in the drop-in lab sessions with the lab facilitators.

If you got a mark of 77% (80/104 marks) or lower, it may be worth reviewing your current study practices to see if they can be improved. As a software engineering-focused unit, you might find CITS5501 different to other units you've studied, and you might find it needs a different approach. The FAQ link here offers some suggestions. You can also contact the UWA Academic Skills centre, which offers face-to-face and online consultations aimed at improving particular study skills.

If you've discussed quiz feedback with a lab facilitator and still have queries regarding it, feel free to email me. If you are emailing in regards to a question, make sure you include the full text of the question, as well as the possible answers (if any), and your answer. (Don't just provide a question number: the questions are selected and sorted randomly, so a bare question number isn't very helpful.) I am always happy to correct any errors in marking, if they have occurred, but you do need to explain carefully and clearly what they are.

Cheers,

Arran
