Installing Python on your laptop computer

Note that all CSSE units teaching with Python use Python version 3, and later.
Do not install or use the older, and different, Python 2, which has been depreciated since January 2020.

Thonny is a Python IDE for beginners.

Thonny is used in UWA's CITS1401 Computational Thinking with Python and CITS2401 Computer Analysis and Visualisation units.

Visit thonny.org to download both Python and the Thonny IDE on Windows, Linux, or macOS.

If you already have Python installed on your computer, you may wish to install the free Wing IDE 101, instead of Thonny.
