The project fine print states: "The crontab-file and the estimates-file will each contain at most 20 non-comment lines. Each line will be at most 100 characters long, and each command name will be at most 40 characters long." Does this mean we are guaranteed these specifications, or do we have to test them and report errors if, say, a command name is longer than 40 characters long? Thanks

These limits are guaranteed, you do not need to check against/for them. They tell you the maximum size of variables that will be suitable to store the files' data.
