This forum is provided to promote discussion amongst students enrolled in CITS3007 Secure Coding. If posting a question, it's suggested you check first whether your question is answered in the unit Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list, and use the search box (on the right) to see if an answer to your question has already been posted.

Please consider offering answers and suggestions to help other students! And if you fix a problem by following a suggestion here, it would be great if other interested students could see a short "Great, fixed it!"  followup message.

Note that any posts must comply with the UWA Code of Conduct and the UWA Academic Conduct Policy. That means you should (a) treat everyone with respect and courtesy, and (b) not post your solutions to an assessment that's in progress.

If asking a programming question, it's recommended you read How do I ask a good question? If reporting or troubleshooting a bug in software used in the unit, it's recommend you read How to report bugs effectively.

Hi,

The material we actually covered in week 7 (last week) is already up, and the week 8 material will go up prior to the lecture. I normally try to ensure lecture slides are up on the Monday or Tuesday, but during particularly busy weeks (for instance, when an assessment is being marked, or an assessment is about to be released, or – as is the case this week – both), it's possible they might only go up on the day of the lecture.

However, as mentioned previously on the forum (here) and on the unit website (here), you can also access previous years' content, if you wish. In general, the topics and content change little from year to year, but I do aim to improve the clarity, structure and presentation of the lecture slides wherever I can.

In case you're concerned about what content is examinable: the examinable content is always precisely what the unit FAQ (here) says it is. It would be unusual for us to have to skip a topic entirely in lectures, but if we did, it simply wouldn't be examinable. Because CITS3007 doesn't use a printed exam paper (which the Exams Office requires coordinators to finalise quite early in semester), it's possible (if needed) for me to remove topics from a test or exam right up to the date of that test or exam.

I hope that helps – let me know if anything is unclear or you have further questions.

Cheers

Arran

Hi Arran.

Could you please upload the lecture slides from weeks seven and eight to the unit's website?

Thanks.
