Yes, but I can't imagine why you'd need to. It would be interesting to hear what you need serialisation for. A non-linear data-structure?? If you are passing integers, you can use htonl(), and its reverse. Strings don't require serialisation, and (thus) HTTP headers and HTML don't require serialisation.
