Yeah kinda self generating. I just want gcc to generate the header dependencies from the #include lines of my source files which I will include in the Makefile. Just using that option while building the .o files. That way I don't have to manually write out the header dependencies for each target. It works great but there could be a reason it shouldn't be used either because of the rules or else.

I recommend just keeping it simple; after you've finished the project, learn all the fancy 'tricks' for any future projects to undertake.
