My reason is, main() is the logical start to the solution, so that's one of the first things that I'd write. I don't like writing main() towards the bottom and leaving a gap because I might run out of room. If I run out of room, then I'd have to write functions below main(), which defeats the purpose of leaving the gap in the first place.
