UWA week 35 (2nd semester, week 6) ↓

the unit in general had to restart pc, issues with ubuntu (all 3)

I'm afraid that I have no helpful suggestions, but the very first thing you need to setup when you have it working again is to establish a regular backup routine for your files - using either a simple USB key, to a cloud-drive such as OneDrive provided free by UWA https://www.it.uwa.edu.au/it-help/storage, or Github. Don't leave your only copy your unit's work on your laptop, and make a copy after every, say, hour of changes.
